FCA Levels of Play

Impact Soccer Academy: Tot to U10 players

Directed by the FCA Soccer Executive Director of Coaching and Staff, the new Impact Soccer Academy will provide players with developmentally appropriate training sessions during the week. A feature component of the program is the coaching and player instruction provided by the trained FCA staff coaches.

Each age group will have its own dedicated training night and time that will be held at the local facilities and led by training volunteers. Our program will have more of an Academy-style feel. Saturday mornings our coaches will have age groups blending instead of playing with a specific team every week.

Developmental White Program: U8-U19

Our Developmental White team level is the first step into the travel side of soccer. The program is seasonal based for players that wish to practice once or twice a week with minimal travel and one or two games per weekend. There are no tournaments included or extended weekend commitments. Developmental White teams start at the U8 age group and continues through U19. All teams, regardless of age, play with a focus on developing the core technical capabilities and tactical game awareness for success without a focus on the score. Developmental white level teams typically do minimum travel within boundaries of the league.

WSSL has a Recreational league typically playing 4 home and 4 away matches. The travel is within the home locations of the WSSL clubs in Brighton, Plymouth, Northville, Chelsea, and Farmington areas.

In WSSL, the age group divisions range from U8 through U19. All of these age groups are gender specific. In age divisions U8 through U19 boys can only play on boy teams. Girls may play on either a girls or a boy's team.

Select is the first level of competitive travel soccer in the state of Michigan/Ohio. Select begins at the U9 age group and continues through U19. All teams, regardless of club affiliation and location play at the select level during the early U9-U12 age levels. Select programs are focused on developing the core technical capabilities and tactical game awareness for success as the youth player advances. Select level teams typically do minimum travel within boundaries of the league.

WSSL/NWOYSL have Select leagues typically playing 4 home and 4 away matches. The travel is within the home locations of the WSSL/NWOYSL clubs.

Our Select level teams will also participate in 2-3 tournaments for the year and include winter training locally.

Premier Level: U13-U19

The Premier level within FCA Soccer will participate in Michigan State Premier Soccer Program (MSPSP). MSPSP is for age groups U13 through U19. All teams must be sponsored by a MSYSA member league. WSSL sponsors FCA teams through our league affiliation. Teams are selected on merit and FCA Soccer Club's nomination indicating that we believe the team is ready for premier. Not all teams U13-U19 will play at a Premier level.

MSPSP league typically has teams play 5 home and 5 away matches. The travel is within the home locations of the MSPSP teams/clubs.

Our Premier level teams will also participate in 2-3 tournaments for the year and include winter training locally.

MSPSP Specific:
At the U13 age teams are placed into divisions, which are roughly equal. After the fall season the team will be placed into divisions based on their performance. The top two Divisions are called Premier 1 and Premier 2, followed by Classic 1, Classic 2, Classic 3, Classic 4 and Classic 5 (some older age groups may have fewer divisions.) MSYSA believes Elite level play is equivalent to Classic 3 and 4. Teams move between the Divisions based upon a promotion/relegation process. Teams that do not start play at the U13 age typically are placed in the lowest division and must work their way up the divisions.
